Rural Development Programme

              "Rural Life is not the identity of backwardness

        but can be the source of peace, progress, and prosperity".

 Introduction

         Rural Development Programme(2006) is newly established, non-profitable, non-political and non-governmental organization. It's registered in DDC (Districts Development committee) and DAO (District Administration office) in  Katmandu. It's also affiliated with Social Welfare Council.

 It's especially aimed at the oppressed, suppressed and underprivileged community of remote rural part of the country. It's established with the attempt of seven young energetic and enthusiastic member whether they are in foreign land or serving   in own motherland. The motto of our organization is to bring out some significant and outstanding changes in the lifestyle of downtrodden people of rural areas, by means of mutual cooperation with GOS and NGOS

As has been said, poverty is the mother of all kinds of sins and vice, the people of this region are not only suffering from social, cultural evils& inconsistencies but victimized with natural calamities, disaster and destitute. Disease, hunger, unemployment and illiteracy have become the mark of identity of rural life. The growing environmental pollution, HIV infection rate, drug addiction, child labor, girl trafficking, violation of human rights  are the great challenges before us. These all are the outcome of poverty and lack of awareness.

           The majority of dalits are not only deprived of their basic needs like food, shelter, health, education and employment but they are compelled to live as a second rated citizen in the society. In the name of culture, tradition and custom, they have been untouchable which is against human civilization.

                    Therefore, our aim is to uplift and promote the Dalit community socially economically and culturally through awareness programme. This will be the cornerstone for making them recognize the potentialities and probabilities of their hidden art, skill and competence. Then ultimately, we will be success to build sound, peaceful & prosperous society in true sense.

  The conceptual background of organization

             We are proud of some works that we did in specific field, no matter whether they are with individual or collective attempt. Just like scholarship for25 helpless poor Dalit children(by child happiness  project), or ongoing building construction of blood bank in Myagdi, Beni (by coordination of our chairman with Bikash Project) and establishment of library, Jagriti Library in Majhphant in Parbat by mobilizing dalit children from community are the model of our attempt. In the same way, there are other awareness programme also going on for uniting and mobilizing community for the welfare. Frankly speaking, some of these works had been done before establishing our organization. Thinking that after the establishment of organization, it will be easier and effective to launch our programme.

Objectives of the organization

           To launch skill oriented and income generating programme for the underprivileged community.

To launch awareness programme regarding human rights and child right preservation

To enhance awareness regarding health and environment.

To support helpless, homeless, orphan and disabled persons for education and proper care.

Modernize traditional art & skill belonging to the dalits

Modernize agriculture for creating source of economy.

Attempt to arrange formal and non-formal education

Strategy

•  Bringing  programme to enhance literacy rate.

• Promoting positive thinking through training

•  Recognizing actual problems & potentialities of specific spot through research

•  Motivating community to safeguard environment, natural and cultural heritage.

• Arranging seminar, interaction among community regarding Dalit issues in local ,national and international levels

To bring programme for Dalit and Women empowerment.

           Target Group

            The main target group of our programme will be children women of Dalit communities. Our pilot programme will be launched in specific field of Baglung,Parbat and Myagdi districts.
